Haley had surgery yesterday. We picked her up this evening. It was really great to get her home although I think Russ and I are a little worried we are going to do something wrong to prevent her recovery from being successful. We have a full four page packet of restrictions, medicines, and therapy info. It is a little overwhelming. But we have her home...I know these first few weeks will be the worst so hopefully we can get this process down before long. She has to wear a cone or e-collar as they call it for 2 weeks. She HATES IT. She has been
whining like crazy to get it off. Her incision is bandaged and we are supposed to take it off tomorrow and leave it open to heal. Her leg is a little swollen at this point, but that should go down in a few days. Overall, she looks good. She ate a little food tonight and took her
meds well. I will try and post some pictures tomorrow. We take her back in 2 weeks to get the stitches out and then again in 6 weeks for x-rays. Thank you for the kind thoughts and prayers! One surgery down....one to go!
Blood pressure note- I had the school nurse recheck my blood pressure a few times and it has gone down considerably. I think it was probably just the stress of everything with Haley and the drive to the hospital in the snow that caused it to go up. I still have to go back for a check on Monday but I am hoping it will be normal.
