FCE Baby Shower

I was so blessed to be given a baby shower by my team at work last Friday. Shelby, one of our kindergarten teachers, is due about 3 weeks ahead of me so the first and kindergarten teams threw a joint baby shower for us. It was a lot of fun and we received so many nice gifts for baby Emma! Here are some pictures from the event!

Stitches out! Cone off!

Haley was able to get her stitches out this morning. She was very excited to get to go somewhere in the car since she has pretty much been staring at our living room walls for over 10 days now. SO EXCITED that she decided to jump over my headrests to go from the trunk of my car to the backseat where Russ's mom was sitting once we entered the parking lot of the vet. She was out of control. Russ has taken her on a couple "field trips" to the basement to give her a change of scenery but we can't do that too often since she has to be carried down the stairs. You can see below her incision looks so much better. Still a little bleeding after getting the stitches out but the redness and swelling has gone down significantly. Since she has a few scabs that still need healing we have to keep the cone on her for 1 more week when we can't watch her... but at least when we are around she can have it off.

Boo boo pictures

Haley sitting in her pen...it is driving her crazy that we won't let her on the couch.

Her bad boo boo...inside her leg are all the stitches. We took the bandage off today and it was more swollen than I thought it would be. The swelling should go down by early to mid next week.

Haley -Post Surgery

Haley had surgery yesterday. We picked her up this evening. It was really great to get her home although I think Russ and I are a little worried we are going to do something wrong to prevent her recovery from being successful. We have a full four page packet of restrictions, medicines, and therapy info. It is a little overwhelming. But we have her home...I know these first few weeks will be the worst so hopefully we can get this process down before long. She has to wear a cone or e-collar as they call it for 2 weeks. She HATES IT. She has been whining like crazy to get it off. Her incision is bandaged and we are supposed to take it off tomorrow and leave it open to heal. Her leg is a little swollen at this point, but that should go down in a few days. Overall, she looks good. She ate a little food tonight and took her meds well. I will try and post some pictures tomorrow. We take her back in 2 weeks to get the stitches out and then again in 6 weeks for x-rays. Thank you for the kind thoughts and prayers! One surgery down....one to go!

Blood pressure note- I had the school nurse recheck my blood pressure a few times and it has gone down considerably. I think it was probably just the stress of everything with Haley and the drive to the hospital in the snow that caused it to go up. I still have to go back for a check on Monday but I am hoping it will be normal.
